Description:The Widowmaker is event two of the Rockwell Western States Professional Hill Climb Series. While the venue has changed since the making of “On Any Sunday”, the show is still just as awesome. The event features a full two days (Friday and Saturday) of extreme motorcycle action, a kids carnival and helicopter rides. Promoters usually offer some kind of exhibition event, 2008 featured monster trucks. This is an event not to miss, so bring your friends and family out for a great show.
The weekend will feature continuous action on three very different hills. The Pro Exhibition hill is known in hill climbing circles as 1,000 feet of “pure h-e-double toothpicks” with a grueling ride testing the skill and endurance of the fittest professional athlete. If a competitor makes it to the top, it is a true testament to their riding ability and their mechanical skills. The Pro Altered Hill is 550-feet of dirt that is tamed only by pure horsepower, nerves of steel and adrenaline – speed is the name of the game. The third hill is the Trophy Hill which offers its own unique challenge to the amateur riders who range in age from 3-80 years of age riding everything from 50cc shaft drives to the vintage twin to the latest altered models.
Jordy Smith, his family and all the friends who will still answer his calls for help, work long and hard to make this a great family experience for everyone. While this is not a BMC event, you will see many of our members competing and helping to put on the event so expect to see some familiar faces when you visit.
