The Fall Hill Climb Series has returned stronger than ever to the BMC. In 2007, Scott Olson and a team of other devoted BMC members joined together to restart the series. In prior years, the hill climb series was one of the most popular events held by BMC.
The events in 2009 will run:
September 20 - Jim Foster Memorial
Admission $5 per carload
September 27 - Series Hill Climb # 2
Admission $5 per person; $10 per carload
Date Change: October 11 is postponed due to weather
Rain Date Scheduled for October 18 - Series Hill Climb #3
Admission $5 per person; $10 per carload
Scott Olson can be reached for questions at (406) 896-1663.
In addition to the 'big' bikes, there will be kids classes for 50's up through 85's. Trophies will be available for series winners, and the promoters have indicated that participant awards will be given to series entrants.
While all 3 of the events are open to BMC and non-BMC members, competitors that choose to enter for the series championship for both series are required to sign up on Sunday, September 20. Payout and trophy awards will be given after conclusion of the October 11 event.
Spectators are welcomed. There is a $5 per person gate charge (max $10 per carload) for all vehicles with non-BMC members inside. There isn't a better value in Billings for sports entertainment!
2007
The Jim Foster Memorial Hill Climb was the first in a three-part 2007 Fall Hill Climb series held at the BMC grounds, Billings, Montana. Riders enjoyed a great day on a challenging hill. The second hill climb was run September 23, with an equally challenging hill and competition. The third and final event of the 2007 Fall Hill Climb Series was held on October 14, 2007.
This was a return to the BMC Fall Hill Climb Series after a number of dormant years. And it was an awesome series of events, wrapping up a very busy season of over 20 competition events held by BMC.
While only three classes were included in the Fall Series points championship, all of the regular classes, from 50cc up to the Unlimited classes, were run. Points from the last two hill climbs were counted toward the BMC season points totals, with many competitors and families interested in overall class standings in attendance.
Twentyone professional riders from around the Montana and Wyoming joined the 2007 series. Thanks to a significant contribution by Ray Halsey of Iron Wolf Crushing, the purse for the 2007 Fall Series paid out was $1,420.00. Riders entering the series in the Open A, 251-600cc Altered and 251-700cc Unlimited classes accumulated points during each of the three events. The winners were declared and purse paid immediately following the October 14, 2007 hill climb event.

Scott Olson and his wife put a great deal of time into planning and staging the series. Jason Halsey and Shannon Chamberlain, promoters of the first two series events, also held excellent events. All of the promoters and the BMC Board thank all of the volunteers at the events, without the volunteer help BMC could not hold the world class events that it has become known for. And most of all, BMC thanks all of the competitors, both from the local Billings area and from other counties and states, that took the time and spent the money to come to Billings to compete. We couldn't do it without you.
